The Day Our Hearts Were Broken By Jonathan Florez
and Jackelyn Florez
Do you remember that day? The day our hearts were broken.
It was a clear day in
September 2001, when the terrorists thought they had won.
First one plane hit the north tower with no fear but
with great power.
Soon we saw at 9:03 a second plane hit the south tower.
The city that never sleeps was
force to close its doors.
To everyone's surprise a third plane was in the sky. It crashed into the pentagon. But
the terrorists were not done.
Flight 93 were full of heroes. They died with honor, They won the battle and We
remember their last words when they said goodbye.
In a matter of minutes our world collapsed. The Towers were
gone, Flight 93 crashed, and the pentagon walls collapsed. The only remains which were left standing to remind us
of this day is the iron cross that stood among the ruins.
Red Lanterns
Oh, how they kiss the winds With a cultural
embrace. A harmonious balance Alights the promenade Feng Shui.
An escape to tradition A journey of
peace And silent affirmation. The cleansing of spirit and home, Red Lanterns
Await the dawn Of the
Lunar New Year.
